This is a subject that’s very close to my heart at the moment. While I may not be an authority all things beauty, with a two month old baby around, I am fast becoming an expert at looking tired and trying my best not to 🙂
These products have recently become indispensable to me. My mornings (and evenings for that matter!) are usually pretty hectic so I like to keep my beauty regimen fairly simple. In case you’re interested, you can read my post here about what I do to streamline the morning routine.
It’s taken me a lot of trial and error over the years to settle on this collection of products. I stumbled upon most of them by reading beauty blogs or scouring the reviews on Sephora’s website (my absolute favorite place to buy beauty and cosmetic products!). Not only are these goodies super effective, but they’re also dead easy to use. A win win in my books!
So without further ado, here’s a round-up of my favorite brightening beauty products that do a fantastic job of helping me at least look like I’ve had some sleep the night before!
BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector
Dark under eye circles have been the bane of my life forever. I’m the kind of person who looks like I’ve had two hours sleep, even when I’ve had eight. And it’s only become worse with the baby-related sleep deprivation!
So I was absolutely thrilled to find this product. You apply it underneath your concealer and it works by color-correcting the blue tones of dark circles, while brightening and illuminating the under eye area. Pure magic in my opinion!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Talking of under eye circles, I’ve searched far and wide for a hard working concealer that will cover effectively without creasing or being too cakey. While I am fond of YSL’s Touche Eclat, I’ve finally settled on this one by NARS for my go-to concealer.
It does exactly what the name suggests. This concealer goes on smoothly, covers up my circles and nicely brightens up the dark areas. It’s a little on the pricey side to be honest, but for me it’s worth it (I tend to economize on other things like mascara – hello Maybelline!).
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
This is a great bonus product for illuminating the eye area. Although it’s really intended as a base for your eye makeup, I actually love to use it by itself in place of eye shadow (lazy!).
The shade I own (“Minor Sin”) is a lovely shimmery champagne color, with pink undertones. I don’t like to go heavy on make-up during the day, and this is just perfect for a subtle pop of color.
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator
I can’t say much I LOVE this product! Not only does it give my skin a nice healthy glow, but it also helps with those pesky fine lines. I’ve tried lots of exfoliating products over the years, but this is by far the best. And although it’s somewhat expensive, a little goes a long way, so it lasts forever. I also have quite sensitive skin, and this doesn’t seem to irritate it at all.
I tend to exfoliate once or twice a week and my skin always feels super smooth afterwards. In fact, it’s probably the next best thing to a visit with the dermatologist 🙂
Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution
At this stage in life, I feel like it’s definitely time for me to start taking better care of my skin, and one product I rely on is this serum. I typically apply it every night before bed and definitely wake up looking more refreshed than I would otherwise!
And although these aren’t really big issues for me, this product also works wonders on enlarged pores and hyper-pigmentation. A true multi-tasking marvel!
Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen
One payoff to using the various products I’ve already mentioned is that my complexion is generally more even and clear these days. This means that I can usually skip the heavy foundation and go for the more natural look I prefer.
I love to use this BB cream. It’s lightweight and gives just enough coverage, but also has a light shimmer that makes my skin look radiant. I can then just use a dab of concealer to cover my problem areas.
I’m actually a little obsessed with the Tarte range of cosmetics. I love that their products are formulated without lots of the dubious chemicals used in many other brands, which makes me feel as though I’m taking care of my skin a little better.
Tarte Cheek Stain
And last, but not least, this cheek stain is excellent for giving a long-lasting, natural looking flush. It’s also easy peasy to apply – simply smile, dot and blend along the apples of your cheeks.
Along with my NARS concealer, I like to tote this one around in my handbag in case I’m ever out and about and feel like my complexion needs a little extra oomph!
What are your go-to products for adding a little glow or perking up your complexion?
